According to the Webster's dictionary, relinquish means to withdraw or retreat from, to give up or to let go.  January is the time when many of us set resolutions, vowing to improve our lives by introducing, changing or relinquishing specific habits. 

But rather than getting too serious about whether or not to set resolutions, I decided to approach the word relinquish in a more humorous manner.  In our household, Brian is normally the holder of the remote control.  Rarely does he relinquish control of it. I am trying to get control of the remote so that I can finally watch something other than football!
