The Basilica of Sacre Coeur in the Montmartre region of Paris was the very first and very last place I saw on my bucket-list trip. It was designed in the Romano-Byzantine style and was likely influenced by the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, the supreme example of Byzantium architecture. Dramatic as it was, I loved photographing it at night even more because it did not have to compete with its surroundings.
Your example of architecture today does not have to be a national heritage site, -- it might be your home!-- but try photographing it at night and see what a supremely dramatic difference that makes.
