I think one of my favourite things to photograph is texture.  I have a huge appreciation for weathered wood and peeling paint which I find in old doors, gates, boxes, furniture and houses.  I am forever on the look out for weathered and textured items.  I find it most pleasant!  There is something to be said for the grace and beauty of aging.  

This painted door offered me exactly what I was looking for.  Not only did it have many layers of beautiful paint, but the surprise add of some patina on the hardware.  It is the door to a tool shed and I can only imagine what is inside!  There have been a lot of people in and out of that door over the years and it is nice to imagine the craftmanship created from the tools inside.
