Ferocious - one of its meanings - extreme in degree, power, or effect
My son lives in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is a holiday destination for a lot of travellers. We usually try to go out of season, but sometime we have to go in August when it is busy.
Back in the day, Cornwall was mined for its copper and tin. There was a disaster at this mine in 1919; thirty-one men were killed when a link between a rod and the man-engine snapped, sending the engine down the shaft.
What have you found on your travels today that is marked by ferociousness (past or present)?
