There are a few definitions of the word affirmative: agreeing with or consenting to a statement or request ~ supportive, hopeful, or encouraging ~ stating that a fact is so; making an assertion. 

For me, my marriage is a very affirmative thing. Not only did we agree and consent to our marriage as a lifelong endeavor, but we have also stated that it is so by making that assertion when we spoke our vows. We are also very supportive, hopeful and encouraging with each other in our marriage as well.
