We associated the phrase, "know thyself" with the philosopher Socrates, though the words themselves were first found inscribed on a temple to Apollo in Delphi. Socrates believed that self-knowledge was the key to living a meaningful life. He said that self-knowledge is a fluid state, achieved by the constant examination of one's beliefs and morals, and by honestly reflecting on one's actions and ignorance.
In our house, we know that peace, albeit sometimes only temporary, can be achieved through a good cup of coffee and a good book.
