This week we will be shooting in black and white. Removing color from our images forces us to get back to the basics, turning our attention to the kind of technical things that are most important in all photography -light, contrast, composition, texture, and values of light and dark.
When it comes to creating a black and white image, you have options. If your camera has a monochrome setting you can shoot in black and white from the start. If not, many post-processing programs and apps will do the job for you.
As we spend this week with black and white photography, notice how your thinking changes knowing that the final image will depend on gray tones. Hopefully this week will open up some new possibilities for you and your photography.
