I love to travel and this was an especially exciting journey to tour Vietnam. While I was wandering the market in Ho Chi Minh City, I was captivated by this touching scene of a mother and her child. The little boy is surrounded by his school things and is busily doing homework while contentedly cradled in his mother’s lap. 

But it was the vivid colors that first caught my eye. The contrast of the red on blue made this image successful. Without that strong but simple background, the scene would not be nearly as powerful. It was one of my favorite photos of my trip. 

Today, look for or create an image with a contrast between navy and another vivid color. See what a difference that contrast can make.
