The thing I appreciate most about taking a photo a day is that it asks me to slow down every day and notice the little things around me that I might otherwise hurry right past.
I was out in our front yard admiring the interesting bark on the river birch tree. (Does stopping to admire tree bark mean I have a great life or I need to get a life?) Anyway, the way the light was coming through the peeling bark looked to me like there was a tiny angel clinging to the trunk of the tree. This is definitely something I would not have noticed had I not been living on the slow side at this moment.
Shooting in black and white, or monochrome, made the lines, shapes, and textures pop. If your camera has a monochrome shooting option, try starting by looking at your subject in black and white. This draws your eye and your thinking to different aspects in your frame than does color. If you don't have this option, convert your color image to black and white using an editing app.
Have fun and see what tiny miracles appear to you when you slow down and look at the world around you a little differently.
