Today is our last day of red week and our first selfie of 2026.
For many of us, selfies are the most difficult prompt of the month. They are challenging technically and they can be challenging mentally. Keep in mind that life is always a work in progress! You will have a year to work on your selfie skills!
Here are some tips for today's photo:
- Find some pretty natural light - blue hour or golden hour; or, some diffused light in front of a window. Try to avoid the harsh midday sun.
- Use a tripod. To get focus, place your tripod where it needs to be for your photo, without your camera on it.. Then place yourself in position. Focus your camera on the tripod and then switch it to manual mode. Your settings will be saved. Place your camera on the tripod.
- Use a remote or your camera's timer to take your photos.
- Take a few shots. Tweak your settings as necessary.
- Be patient! This may take several (a lot) of attempts, especially if you are new to taking selfies.
- Remember...we are a work in progress!
We are looking forward to seeing all of the new faces that have joined us this year! And, of course, all of our friends from past years as well.
