We want to help our community start sharing photos on Flickr, a platform specifically designed for photographers!
Below, we’ll guide you through setting up a FREE Flickr account, where you can upload up to 1,000 photos at no cost. Yes, there will be some ads if you use the free version, but that’s no different than Facebook or Instagram.
Once you’re set up, we’ll have our very own 365 Picture Today Group on Flickr, where you can easily connect with fellow members, share your photos, and find daily inspiration.
Steps to Open a Free Flickr Account
Go to the flickr website - https://www.flickr.com/ or download the app. Flickr
Click on the Sign Up or Join for Free Buttons.
Enter your details:
Fill out the required information. and click Sign Up to create your account.
Verify your email:
Check your email inbox for a verification message from Flickr. Click on the Confirm my Flickr account link inthe email to activate your account.
Sign In:
Once verified you can sign in to your new Flickr account using your email address and password.
Once signed in you need to click right at the bottom of the page - No Thanks. Continue to Flickr, if you don't want to pay, your account will be limited to a 1000 public photos and video uploads, and you will be shown ads.
Personalise your profile:
You will be directed to your homepage, where you can personalise your profile and begin uploading photos.
Click on the camera on the left hand side to change your user image, and the three dots against your name, are there for you to change your cover photo.
Now you need to find our group
Use the search at the top on the right side of the screen, type in 365picturetoday - and search groups.
You will find us there and you can click on the + Join button. You will need to agree to the Group Rules.
Now you can upload your first photo
There are a few ways of doing this.
You can do it in the browser, via the flickr app on your phone, or even via Lightroom.
Browser on your computer:
Click on the Cloud on the right hand side of the screen. Drag & drop photos or Choose Photo to upload. You can add the title, description. and Groups that you want your photo to be added too. Then press the Upload 1 Photo button at the right top of the screen.
Lightroom Plugin:
This is the link on how to add the app and to use Lightroom to add your photos to Flickr. Just that you will have to go into the app or on the website to add your photo to the group.
App:
Download the Flickr app from your preferred app store. It's free to use. Open the app, then sign in with your Flickr account.
Steps to upload a photo using the Flickr App
- Open the app.
- Tap the “+” icon at the bottom to start a new upload.
- Your camera roll will open; select the photo by tapping on it (the thumbnail will turn blue).
- Tap “Next” in the top right corner.
- Editing your photo is optional. Use the icons along the bottom to apply filters, crop, and adjust lighting or color.
- Tap the "Arrow" to continue.
From the “New Post” screen
- Add photo details, including title, a short description, tags, location, etc.
- Tap “Share” to upload the photo to your Flickr account.
Steps to add your photo to group
- Tap the person icon (“You”) at the bottom to go to your Photostream.
- Tap the photo you want to share.
- Use the three dots in the corner to access more options.
- Tap the “Add to Group”.
- Select the group from your list.
- Tap "Submit” to add the photo to the group.
When you open the Flickr app, you’ll land on your feed with recent photos and activity from people and groups you follow. Along the bottom navigation icons:
- House: return to your feed
- Magnifying glass: search for photos, people, or groups
- “+” icon: upload a photo
- Bell: view notifications
- Person icon: access your account, camera roll, albums, faves, groups, and stats
