Meet Community Member, Cheryl Hammer!
Cheryl, tell us a little about yourself.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Robert, for almost 32 years. We have 2 adult daughters, Sarah (30 and just about to graduate from Nursing School), and Rachel (28 and a Teaching and Research Librarian for the University of Nebraska at Kearney). I’ve been a member of the 365 community since January 1, 2022.
When did you start to take an interest in photography?
I remember getting my first kodak instamatic camera for Christmas when I was 10. My first “big girl” camera belonged to my dad. I feel like I have been documenting my life through photos forever. Starting in my teens.
What is your "go to" camera equipment? What editing programs or apps do you prefer?
My “go to” camera for years had been a Nikon D5500 and my Samsung S21+ phone. I recently upgraded to a Canon mirrorless R10 and had my first experiences using it on the European trip we just returned from. My favorite editing apps are Lightroom and Picsart.
What is your favorite style of photography What is your least favorite style?
I love travel, landscape, and portrait photography. I don’t do street photography (it just makes me uncomfortable).
What advice would you give to someone just starting a 365 project?
Remember to document what is happening in your life as well as trying to follow the prompts. I have been doing some type of 365 project for over 10 years. I can’t imagine not participating now.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Sometimes I find inspiration from other photographers in the group and sometimes from Pinterest.
