It's technical day and our prompt is kettle so why not try a little steam photography? Steam can be difficult to capture and might take some practice but it's worth it.
Here's a couple tips to make your attempt a little more successful. First, make sure your light is coming from behind your subject. Here my light is coming from the window behind my kettle. Second, use a darker background so that the steam stands out. The grey in my cabinets proved to be just the right darkness for the steam to show. Of course, the water, coffee, tea or soup must be hot enough that there is steam rising from it. I just kept my kettle boiling so that the steam was constant.
Have a little fun with this today as you try to photograph steam. It's colour blue week so throw in a little blue if you can.
