What catches the eye?
As I scrolled through Flickr and Instagram, I found myself thinking that sharing our photographs with others is a tricky thing. Once an image is out in the world, we never really know what someone else will see in it. Will they be as captivated by the golden light as we were? Will they notice the small detail that was almost overlooked? Will they understand the humor, appreciate the story behind the moment, or recognize the countless attempts it took to capture the perfect shot?
Sometimes it’s easy to identify what draws us to a photograph: a creative idea, beautiful light, a strong composition, or a simple day-to-day moment. Other times, it's something much harder to define; a mood, a feeling, or simply that "something" that resonates in a way we can’t quite explain.
As I looked back through the photos shared during May, I found myself lingering over certain images a little longer than others. Some made me smile, some sparked my curiosity, and some had me taking a second look. Often, I couldn't even explain exactly why - they simply grabbed my attention and stayed with me.
The photographs featured here aren’t presented as the “best” images of the month or ranked in any particular order. They’re simply a few images that caught my eye. Together, they reflect the wonderful variety of subjects, styles, and perspectives that make the 365 Picture Today community so special.
Many thanks to everyone for sharing your photos across the various platforms. I hope you enjoy this month’s selections and find a few images that speak to you as well.
